Only a few seconds after I had published my last post, I receive a message with a link to the D & AD website, the work I did for the D & AD was confirmed as being nominated for an award. Having received an email telling me this last Wednesday (on my birthday, yay!), I already knew this but it never really felt real and since I wasn’t even allowed to tell anyone (until now) it felt unreal. Tonight was the first of me finding out that I’m the only person from the UK that has been nominated, that really shocked me. Have I ever been so lucky? People keeping saying that I’m modest, but I really didn’t think my design was anywhere near good enough.
Check out my work and the competition here.
The final project of third year is almost finished although,I have a feeling this wont be the last post covering my experience with the E.ON Brief. I think the last post I did about this project was the final boards for submitting to the D and AD. Since then I have been working on the ‘Make’ stage of the project and as you can see, not much has really changed in the design. In fact the design has stayed true to the initial drawings propose although having the opportunity to change them at any point.
As part of the project I decided to create the whole user experience. by this I mean having a working prototype (As far as possible, some parts had to be faked), pop out plug adapters for sending the singles, packaging and welcome letters and instruction. I may add more photo’s at a later point but for now I thought I would just get back into making posts since the next few month might become more interesting.
I though it would help if I started recording my finding and process for my Dissertation. So here we are, Dissertation… scary stuff.
The topic I have chosen for my Dissertation is Dyslexia, the learning disability. First of all, the reason why I originally chose this topic was because I though I ready knew a lot about it, purely because I was diagnosed with it in 2002 when I was in second year at high school. I know how frustrated my parents were that it took that long for it to be diagnosed, or something done about it. I guess the first thing I though about doing was something along the lines of ‘How to diagnose dyslexia early on’, but it dawned on me that I wouldn’t really benefit as a designer, this lead to it being more for designing for Dyslexia and how someone would go about it.
I think I’m going to keep this post short and sweet but try to update regularly. Thanks for reading and any advice or suggestions would be more than welcome.
As part of our group business proposal we had to profile the ‘Postconsumer’. We had to do some research on who these people are and make a profile in the from of a research poster using text and images. This poster will be used to help us come up with our business ideas and hopefully help us narrow them down.
I can’t believe I haven’t been rendering in Photoshop until now! Why even bother with something like Solidworks?
