From weeks 3 through to week 8, we have to develop our business proposal. Every Thursday afternoon we meet to discuss and share our findings, but as it draws near presentations we will be arranging to meet more often.
We quickly narrowed down our broad range of ideas to a handful. As a student of Product Design it is normal for us to have to produce 100 ideas in a relatively short period of time – what a relief it is to be working in a group and not having to worry about the quantity. One tool we have been using is Facebook (here’s a link to our work – http://on.fb.me/fB14I0), it’s allowed us to discuss, have polls, arrange meeting and allow everyone to post their findings.
The main methods we used to create a realistic business were brainstorming and mindmapping. We were able to get a lot of information down on paper in such a short period of time working together. It allowed us to come together as a group and have our say in what it should do and what might be the benefits to the users.
Using storyboarding and sketching out details we were able to see how our idea would be used. Our idea is to have a non-profit organisation that would be situated in cities and would be paired up with allotments. The idea is that people will be able to trade a hire tools and the only thing you might have to pay is the once off membership fees – our idea is still being developed, hopefully we’ll have detailed company values and other important things written up soon. But for now we need to come up with a name… easier said than done.
