We’re back to doing mind maps once again as we look into subjects for our dissertations. This time instead of doing Fair Trade, I decided to do something that I would find more interesting. I’ve decided to look at learning disabilities. At first I was going to do only Dyslexia but then I though it would be easier to do or research for something more varied.
It wasn’t until first year at high school that I was diagnosed as have Dyslexia and I know as fact my parents weren’t happy that it took that long. My parents picked up early on that there was something not quite right, they didn’t know exactly what it was but they knew it was something.
Just before coming to university I was tested for learning disabilities and arrangements were made for my needs. The results of the test showed that some of my abilities were 98% above average with my peers but also showed conclusive results that proved that I was indeed have dyslexia.
Group Meeting Update
During reading week (week 6) our group met up to discussing and help each other choose our topics. We also met up again in week 7 for a dissertation workshop. The workshop was actually better than I though it would be and it’s not only because of the free food (the way to my heart), but I found it really helpful. The next stage would be to complete some online forms and start looking for reading material.
